Everyone is talking about Facebook ads—and don’t get me wrong, Facebook ads are great.
We still spend a lot of money there.
However, people are focusing so much on Facebook ads that they're mostly ignoring YouTube ads.
There's a huge opportunity with YouTube ads.
With YouTube, you can get high-quality leads that actively engage with your business, and the best part is that YouTube ads aren't complicated.
So, let's get started.
YouTube is a huge opportunity and you're able to reach a massive audience with the platform. There are over a billion YouTube users worldwide who watch over a billion hours of content per day.
YouTube is also the second-largest search engine in the world, and many of the searches on the platform are 'how-to' searches, which are typically high-intent searches.
All of this combined makes it the perfect place for marketers.
The Fear Of Video
Here’s the thing—because there isn't a ton of advertising demand on YouTube, there's plenty of space for ads.
This is also why ad costs are so low.
People also believe that YouTube is complicated (and it used to be). However, they’ve made adjustments to make the ad platform super easy to use.
As far as videos go, you have a few different options:
- You can shoot with a cameraman
- You can do a selfie video with your phone
- You can record your screen and just use your voice
- You can hire other people to make the video for you
While a couple of these options require you to be on camera, the other two don’t.
With the last option, you don’t have to be in the video at all!
Whether you're comfortable with being on camera or not, there's an option for you to make YouTube video ads.
The 4 Easy Steps To Get Laser Targeted Leads
In a moment, I'm going to walk you through how to make the perfect YouTube ad in less than 10 minutes.
Before that, let’s look at the four super steps that allow you to get laser targeted leads on YouTube.
Step #1: YouTube Channel Setup
Setting up your YouTube channel is stupid easy.
Actually, I’m going to walk you through how to do it right now.
- Go to Google
- Type in the phrase, “create a new YouTube channel”
- Scroll to the link to create a YouTube channel
- Click “create channel.”
I was able to create a channel in 19 seconds!
Sure, there are modifications that you can make to the channel at this point, but the point is that you can create your channel in seconds.
Step #2: Create Engaging And Entertaining Videos
Anyone can create great videos, and we already went over the types of videos that you can create.
Focus on creating a video that you know your audience will love.
From there, you just have to drive traffic to the video.
Step #3: Laser Target
This is where YouTube really takes the cake!
There are many different ways to target, and we're going to go over different targeting options in just a moment.
Step #4: Create A Landing Page
Obviously, your customers are going to need somewhere to go once they click.
These four easy steps will get you the traffic that you’ve been looking for.
To get them to work, you need to know how to actually create an excellent ad.
Creating An Ad
Creating an ad on YouTube is so simple that I'm actually going to walk you through how to do it right now.
Here's the process.
Go to your ad account
Click on where it says “Campaigns”
Click on the plus icon for a new campaign
Click on 'New Campaign'.
Go to Leads.
Click on “Video”
Put in the campaign name and enter a daily budget
Choose your bidding strategy - I recommend that you choose to maximize conversions to allow YouTube to go to work for you and optimize your bid.
Set the target CPA lead cost to whatever your target is.
Here, I'm setting it to $3 for this example.
Choose your language.
If you're advertising to English speakers, select English.
However, something to keep in mind is that you can get cheap, targeted ads if you advertise in a language other than English.
Then choose your countries.
I'm selecting the United States here, but you can play around with your country targeting a little bit.
In the next step, always exclude the following options:
- Embedded videos
- Live streaming videos
- Content not yet labeled
Once you've done that, put in your ad group name.
Then choose your demographics.
You have a ton of options to choose from here, but I recommend that you always exclude the 18-24 age group.
Depending on your offer, you may want to adjust the household income level as well.
After you select your demographics, you need to adjust your audience.
If you've run ads in the past and have built up an audience, Google lets you upload that audience into the platform.
If you're just starting, there are plenty of options for you to build your own audience.
You can build audiences through “Custom Affinity”
Here, you can tell Google that you want to target people that have visited specific websites.
For example, you could put in your competitor's websites.
If you're in health and fitness, you could tell Google to target people who have recently visited a website like bodybuilding.com.
Google tracks traffic on the entire internet and makes it easy for you to target your ads.
There is also “Custom Intent”
Google is essentially able to read its users’ minds.
If someone is searching for “beach gear,” Google knows that they want beach gear and can serve them the appropriate ads.
Google also knows about things like life events.
That could be:
- People that just changed their job
- People that are moving
- People that just got married
There a ton of targeting options out there for you.
You can also target keywords, so you can reach people on Google that are searching for specific keywords
Google also suggests keywords for you if you aren't sure what to target.
You can even type in a website and Google will suggest keywords based on the URL.
They're doing the thinking for you!
Then you can sort your options by topics that people are interested in.
This could be things like:
- Business finances
You can pretty much choose any topic you'd like.
As you go, YouTube just gets more and more powerful.
After you've set your targeting, you can then choose exactly where your ad gets placed.
For example, say that you're a financial advisor.
If you want to show your ad on a specific video about investing money, you can choose the exact video that your ad shows up on.
You can also choose:
- Popular content
- App categories
It's powerful stuff.
Once you've selected all of your targeting, you're ready to create your video ad.
You simply take your video link and paste it into the appropriate section.
You then need to:
- Type in the final URL
- Type in the display URL
- Type in the headline
Your final step is to choose whether you're going to auto-generate a banner or use one that you created.
Then you click save and you're ad is ready to go.
I did this in less than 10 minutes!
