How I Became A Six-Figure Consultant


It was over 13 years ago, and I was just a broke college kid in a dorm room.

And something amazing happened… I created my first digital product and generated over $250,000!

But It definitely didn’t happen overnight.

It was a long road to get there.

You see, back when I was in college I spent a lot of time on an internet marketing forum. I tried a lot of different things trying to make money online, but nothing seemed to be working.

I was actually about ready to give up.

But then I was fortunate to get some great advice from people in that very forum that helped me immensely on my digital publishing journey.

Once I cracked the code, I have to say that it was surprisingly easy! 

My Simple Six-Figure Consulting Formula

When most people think of consultants, they picture people in business suits in Boston or New York City going into big fancy offices. 

But that is just ONE type of consulting. 

There are some many other types of consultants out there that make good money, and I was able to follow a simple formula to get myself to the point that I was actually making six figures. 

This is all you have to do:

  1. Find software
  2. Master the software
  3. Research
  4. Create your course
  5. Drive traffic

I followed that simple system, and I couldn't believe how quickly I was able to scale. 

Let me explain further.

How I Created My First Digital Product

The product I created revolved around teaching people how to setup and use a specific type of software that I had come across online.

As I played with the software, I realized there would definitely be a market for people who were trying to figure out how the heck to use it.

So, the first step I took was to master the software myself.

As I started learning more and more about the software, I found that there were forums and discussion happening around this product.

What that told me was that there was a ton of people who were actively asking questions and looking for help. 

Because I had learned how to use the software, I was able to identify problems these customers needed me to solve for them.

I then built a consulting service to help these software users.

How I started was painfully simple. 

All I did was become a software affiliate (I even offered a special bonus with free consultation and gave out my phone number and email for people who purchased through my link).

Once I found some success with that, I began selling my consulting service separately.

I sold so many people on my consulting services that I realized I had to create a product because I was just getting too many referrals to handle on my own. 

It was a great problem to have, but I knew there was a way to help more people and make more money without necessarily working harder.

My solution was to create a step-by-step tutorial to solve the problem.

First, I got permission from the software company to use their name (which they didn't mind since I was getting them even more business).

I then used my consulting experience to build a video tutorial series. I sold that video tutorial series for $500 each, and I was able to sell around 500 units. 

That's $250,000!

That's literally all I did. 

I know that becoming one of those successful consultants that you see online seems like a monumental task, but it really isn't that difficult when you break it down into digestible steps. 

You could even use the PEG method to get you started. 

Anyone can become a consultant.
